1st Shots of Iraq

Some links of past activities with the unit are located here...

(I will locate more pictures and video in the coming months).

We have 6 videos of the unit working in the field north of Spearfish in the fall of 1998, when they tested on all equipment... A number of clips showing a bit of training at Ft Meade in 1999... (and the picnic in the park that fall). As you can see from video out of the past, this unit is very capable of handling any situation presented to them... and has always had strong support from family and friends.

It is from the strength and courage received in those days that they draw on at this time... it keeps them going day after day.

Almost one hundred and fifty men and women from the Northern Hills gather somewhere in Iraq daily to confirm that belief. They have not been forgotten or abandoned by a single person remaining here and they know that!

It is up to us who remain behind them... to remain behind them in the coming months, in every way we can.

Although I am sad about the current events I feel the best thing I can do is to replay the past for all of you...

We all remember the day they left... although our lives went on, the life they had changed tremendously!

But our feelings have not changed... And our ability to continue will not change either, we will stay on course and see this through. (Regardless of this extension, or the problems we face in the coming months). We have no choice but to be as brave and courageous as they are, we must do it for them.

It is through the cards, letters, and packages that they still have that "direct" contact needed most... We must find out what they are in need of now and keep this up! Although it is possible they will once again be able to communicate through the phones and emails at some time, for right now a simple encouraging letter may be the best chance to reach out to them in the way they need the most.

The weather in the Baghdad area is still somewhat cool morning and evening, and not that hot in the daytime... once in a while a few rain showers at times even!

The unit can handle the rain as well as the heat... Below is a clip that shows a bit of the unit in action, (at "lanes training" in the Ft. Meade area in 1999).

Push the play button...

If you want to see this "rain" clip in the Real Player format, click here to download.

Also I have placed a link to a large clip of the "cancer walk" in August of 1998...  Caution: 6 MB download, only for those with fast cable modems...
