The "Events" button not only covers events in Deadwood, but throughout the entire hills. The "Reservations" link is more of an attempted to warn you about the problems you may have doing this. Also some direction about the most popular areas for making arrangements before coming here. Other popular links to various characters such as Wild Bill and Calamity Jane can be found throughout these pages... (Many of the better known people from the old west have their own page. We have also included some of the better known "make-believe" stories, as well as the corrected information... also links to other web pages on these famous people). Within these pages you will find both new and old history, some of it never before discussed out in the open... The somewhat strange history of Deadwood is a deep dark one, often somewhat tainted, and a bit spicy at times... Many of the characters from the "old days" are not truly as they seem, we will present both sides of many tales and try to explain what was actually the truth behind many beliefs and the various versions of some stories. (Much of the information is along the adult theme, this site will be blocked by kid-watch programs)! We also have other sites dedicated to some famous people of this day, (especially from the Deadwood area)... The latest work is being done to honor our local soldiers in Iraq. These pages are a combined effort of a number of people and their research over the last 50 years. Many links found on the history site are reported to be some of the most complete, accurate, and updated pages on Deadwood anywhere on the Internet... One can easily spend several days just going through them once. We are not sponsored or controlled by any "special interest" group and are not accepting any money from the casinos! We are interested in serving a fair and balanced look at all things of interest in Deadwood and we will respond to any request for a link to other pages you find that have better information or an opposite viewpoint. About the information links... (There are also other links to be found throughout each web page). These pages are constantly being added to, cleared, and corrected... They may never be totally completed! The majority of this work was 25 years in the making, (some video interview work from '77 to '83 will appear in time... most of the work done from '56 to '71 was hand-written free-lance, and all information before that was received second hand... from my grandfather, or people he trusted). Video work from about '85 until now is much better quality and more professional... almost all of it since '97 is in the 16X9 wide-screen format! The first internet work was completed in '94 and redone in '99, just before the "dot-com" crash! After we reorganized much of our work was moved from the Macs to the windows platform in 2003... A smaller and cleaner portion, that had received the most hits in the past, was again served in March 2004... The hits totaled less than 1/2 million the first year afterwards and are now averaging one hundred thousand a month. Final correction date on many of the information pages below will be sometime after May of 2008... GOLD: The first discovery, and other history links about the precious metal!
